Why I do this: William "Pop Pop" Moore

Pop Pop and me.

Before my grandfather, William "Pop Pop" Moore, passed at 95, he could tell you every one of his medications, what he ate that day, and what was happening around the globe.

He didn't leave that to chance. Every day, he read the newspaper. Every day, he did the crossword. Same small habits, day after day.

My grandfather's brain remained sharp for as long as he was on this earth, and I want to help others, too.

That's the heart of MFImprov: making repetition fun. Pop Pop had his newspaper and his crossword. We have improv games that bring people back week after week to think, play, and laugh together.

We started Move Forward Improv so more people can have what Pop Pop had: the mental resilience to stay sharp and connect with loved ones. A daily reason to use their mind, and people to laugh with while they do it.

Think of it like a smoothie.

You're drinking it and enjoying it, and you forget there's spinach and kale in there doing you good. Our games work the same way.

Take "185." On the surface, it's a competitive round of dad jokes. Underneath, everyone is searching for words, spotting patterns, and thinking on their feet, while the whole room laughs.

One game. Once a week. Everyone plays.

  • 30–45 minutes, once a week
  • Seated, and adapted to every memory level. No experience needed.
  • A new focus each month: recall, pattern-spotting, flexible thinking
  • Families are welcome to join in
